The Mode and Design Center (MAD) located in the center of Brussels aims to promote creative industries and cultural talents from the region. In their 4000 square meters space they welcome designers, exhibitions, workshops or events and they are open to collaborations and communication in the creative fields.

Just like they are stating on their website, they want to do MAD things for the creative scene in Brussels. Their latest exhibition called MAD About Living was opened in collaboration with Brussels Invest & Export and it integrates a collective installation where 24 designers from Brussels display their creations.

The 40 pieces displayed in the context of a living space come from experienced and novice designers altogether. Even though, due to its rough and raw appearance, it might not look like a space where one could live, it can sure inspire and open minds. The aesthetics of the place is enhanced by the desolation of an abandoned building that contrasts with modern, contemporary furnishing and lighting fixtures.

The MAD think about this space is how an unconventional, ruined place can be transformed to convey character and life. The space is completed by the blue paint which does a great job replacing some missing pieces of the puzzle.

Just to mention some interesting pieces: a minimalistic copper clothing rail signed Auguste & Claire, a stylish and simple oak bench designed by Marina Bautier, some cozy, cute crossing chairs from Benoit Deneufbourg and many more details you can discover on your own if you scroll down.
