A Tribe Called Quest Drop New Album

By Dana on November 11, 2016

preorderThe latest and last album of A Tribe Called Quest , We got it from Here… Thank You 4 Your service, is finally here. After the passing away of member Phife Dawg last March, the plans for the album turned into a project meant to celebrate him. Their sixth album features André 3000, Kendrick Lamar, Elton John, Jack White and Busta Rhymes, you can stream it down below.

The story behind the album is marked by loss. After disbanding in 1998 and coming back together for special shows, the group started working on this new album in 2015. Q-Tip and Phife Dawg’s relationship was damaged after ’98 but in a recent interview with NY Times, Q-tip stated that We went through all of the stuff and apologized, and it was just so good, man. We were so back.

The recording sessions for We got it from Here… Thank You 4 Your service took place in Q-Tip’s studio where every  contributor had to be present at all times. The artists bonded during these sessions and the death of Phife Dawg hit every single one of them. While still in mourning, the members ad their families choose to turn this pain into music and deliver this last album, a celebration of everything that A Tribe Called Quest was and will always be.
