For people in Bucharest Carturesti needs no further presentation, but for those who didn’t discover this heaven of books, you should definitely pay them a visit because here you can find beautiful things like books, music records, movies, cool stationery, tasty teas and awesome gifts for your dears.
Not yet convinced? We have great news: a new Carturesti Bookshop will open its doors this week and once you see the pictures you’ll realize that this is no ordinary bookshop. The name of this Carturesti Bookshop is Carousel and we can already imagine that a visit there is like a journey in a merry-go-round.
Located in the old town of Bucharest, on the famous Lipscani Street at no. 55, the house that was renovated for this purpose dates back to the 19th century and it is considered a historical monument. During the communist era the building was confiscated and in 2007 it has been reclaimed by its owners. With a surface of 1000 square meters this amazing space is house for 10 000 volumes ready to be devoured by readers.
One of the greatest things about this renovation is that everything was custom made; nothing was bought, so they relied only on local resources. This Made in Romania project emphasizes the beauty of the former bank which has an exquisite architecture that has been treated with great respect through its restoration.
The cultural concept store spreads on several floors and at the last one you can have a tea and relax in their bistro. There is not much to say about the design because you will see for yourself. It is simple, white and beautifully crafted, yet very classy and elegant.
The official opening will take place Thursday February 12, at 8 pm, where you can listen to Silent Strike, who coincidence or not, has a song called Carousel.
