Douglas Hoekzema, aka Hox, creates murals of brightly colored mandala-like patterns using little more than strategically placed bursts of spray paint. By layering consecutive rings he turns flat walls into tunnels of color, several of which he completed recently at POW! WOW! D.C.
Hox attempts to show us a different way of viewing time through a means of exploring its natural fabric. His work creates a new foundation and approach to evaluating and appreciating time. His works represent what happens when we let go of our control of time and let its predetermined course take control.
