HERAKUT

Social project in Potsdam, Germany - by HERAKUT

HERA, Jasmin Siddiqui, born 1981 in Frankfurt, Germany. Studied Visual Communication/Graphic Design at the University of Applied Sciences in Wiesbaden. Started graffiti in 2000.

AKUT, Falk Lehmann, born 1977 in Schmalkalden, Germany. Studied Visual Communication/Graphic Design at the Bauhaus University in Weimar. Started graffiti in 1991.

“Since 2004, the German street art duo HERA and AKUT form a partnership having worked together on various successful global art projects. Their art works can be found in big cities around the world – from Toronto to Kathmandu, from San Francisco to Melbourne […] There is a pictorial and textual component in their art pieces. The short quotes, passages or descriptions written next to the figures are references to the character’s life. As a central theme, their figures can be seen in the context of social fractions and collective constraints, but also embedded into fabulous quotes that tell us of love.” – Anabel Roque Rodriguez on Herakut; press release excerpt of “Brainy Days”

HERAKUT recently completed a captivating social project with kids in a temporary home for displaced families in Potsdam, Germany. School Colors created a workshop that was free of charge for all children, so, in the end Herakut worked with a pretty even mix of children age 4-14.

You can find more on this project here.
