KATY ANN GILMORE is a visual artist living and working in L.A., California. The fact that she has a BA in Mathematics and Art and an MFA in Visual Art make us understand her latest murals: a combination of thousands of tiny little triangles draw together to form beautiful mathematical concepts through an artistic eye.
GILMORE’s work was inspired by a curiosity for how 2D grids would look when deformed in all directions, and how the inconstancy of empty space around physical objects affects our perception of solidity.
As she mentions in her bio, she is currently heavily influenced by topography and the relationship between 2D, perpendicular planes and their distortions into 3D space.
