Miguel Chevalier is a French digital artist best known as one of the pioneers of digital and virtual art. Chevalier focuses on the use of computer technology as an artistic means of expression to create generative and interactive virtual-reality installations.
Inside Saint-Eustache church in Paris, the artist has realized a virtual-reality installation that interacts with the dramatic gothic architecture of the site. ‘Voûtes célestes’ has been projected onto the church’s vaults and central nave, making the volumes of the columns and ribbed vaults engage in a dynamic choreography.
The work, accompanied by musical improvisations played by Baptiste-Florian Marle-Ouvrard on the organ, was produced for Nuit Blanche 2016 on the first of October.
