Pejac is a Spanish artist that wanted to offer the experience of his art work to the people, and brought it on the streets. He recently created three pieces in the Asian part of Istanbul, in Uskudar, and amazed people passing by.
Trompe-l’oeil is actually an art technique meant to deceive the eye using realistic imagery to create an optical illusion. Pejac creates beautiful murals that look like they always belonged there and he is often using the trompe-l’oeil technique.
His purpose is to make people’s brain turn and think and he beautifully explains that: “I would like my work to produce the same result as when you whisper into someone’s ear; Gentle and discrete – but right into the brain… a whisper in the form of a question.”
For him the walls are just like canvases and he paints them carefully and patiently with small brushes.
Just like the artist declared “making a work look simple is quite complex” and we can confirm that by taking a closer look to the detailing of his murals.
