In the place you can least expect architecture to flourish, an astonishing project has emerged. Arquitectura en Movimiento Workshop designed a building that for the traditional Indian society might seem atypical. The 6 story building, destined for one big family, has 3 apartments, each of them on two levels. Each apartment was specially designed for different members of the family: an older couple and two young couples with children.
As mentioned by the architects, every space was specially designed to follow personal needs and identities.
The central piece of the SDM apartment is the staircase, a sculpture dominating the common space, easy to see from every angle of the public areas.
Even though at a first glance this is far from a traditional home, a prayer room was integrated in the apartment (the pooja room), keeping the modern lines, contrasting with the usage of the space.
In the living a subtle light is offered by the clear and simple lines of the ceiling. The kitchen follows the same clean and serene atmosphere, combining natural wood with modern elements.
This is definitely a peaceful home that would inspire anyone to meditation and serenity.
