There are more and more people in this world that have to live and survive in small, crowded places. Even more when we travel, we find ourselves in tiny, overcrowded hotel rooms. This is why there is a growing need for multifunctional spaces that meet all human needs on a small surface. Zoku, a new hotel brand, wanted to change the life of all those nomads that so often have to find a new home away from home. To develop this concept they chose concrete, a Dutch architecture and design studio that did an awesome job.
The hybrid room they created encapsulates all the functionalities of a traditional home, but on a very small surface. It can be an office, a dining area, a place to socialize and to sleep. It has a stairway that can be hidden in the storage area and that leads to a bedroom disguised behind classy wooden panels. The storage rooms is surprisingly big for such a small space and they even added a trapeze for the daily workout. For the furnishing of the rooms Zoku collaborates with the Danish brand Muuto that provides modern, beautiful, yet practical pieces.
Zoku is an innovative hotel that promises to deliver the same services you would expect in the ordinary hotels, but in a more comfortable and welcoming space. Stay tuned because the first one will open in the fall of 2015 in Amsterdam. This is definitely a great inspiration for all of us struggling to stuff everything in one small apartment.
