Hilla Shamia is a product designer from Israel who creates meaningful objects that go beyond utility. One of her trademarks is the unique technique she developed to create benches and tables. The Wood Casting project is almost an emotional connection between two contrasting elements: wood and aluminium. The amazing pieces are created by pouring molten aluminium onto cypress and eucalyptus logs that have been cut lengthwise.
Each piece is unique since there is not much human intervention and the aluminium follows the natural cracks and shapes of the wood. The wood is merging with the metal and their fusion is marked by the fine black line caused by the burning. The aluminium goes further with this interaction and penetrates the cracks of the trunks.
The human touch is only visible in the square shape of the finished products. For sure we would like to see them integrated in some interiors that will do them justice. Take a look because it will be worth it.
